Teeth Whitening FAQs
There are several options depending on the type of system we use. Some systems give a one visit instant result, and others require a commitment of a few weeks. Our take home systems generally require a commitment of approximately 4-6 weeks in total.
Teeth whitening is not permanent so you can top up or repeat your whitening treatment as often as you require, as long as you continue with regular examinations and your appliance still fits nicely.
People who smoke or consume food and beverages that stain teeth, such as red wine, coffee and curries will find that they need teeth whitening at more regular intervals.
We normally need 3 or 4 appointments for our home whitening system.
Appointment 1: includes impressions and photos, for your appliance to be made.
Appointment 2: is two weeks later to fit your appliance and check it fits correctly to give the best results. We also explain how to prepare your whitening treatment and give you your kit.
Appointment 3: is usually a review appointment with photos to check the end result. If you are having Enlighten B1 system, you will also require a fourth appointment to complete your in-chair whitening treatment.
Teeth whitening treatment is a safe, effective, and non-invasive. It is a popular method of brightening all-natural teeth due to its successful results. Some patients may experience sensitivity during the whitening process.
However, this is kept to a minimum if you use anti-sensitive toothpaste. You must follow the procedure strictly to ensure the best overall results are achieved for you.
Teeth whitening will only whiten your natural teeth. It does not whiten porcelain or white composite restorations. As a result, these may need to be changed if you wish to have the colour matched to your new whitened teeth.
